Class Prerequisites and Audition Requirements
Voice - Level 2
Students
must have been in the Level 2 Voice class
previously.
For
students wanting to be in Level 2 Voice should start in Level 1. To move to
Level 2, students will go through an audition process. Audition details will be
given by the voice instructor once classes start.
Grades 7 - 12 Acting Classes
Class Placements are now
available on the
Cast List page.
ALL
Students in this age group will go through a
placement audition process to determine which class they will be in.
Students need to attend ONE of the three designated audition times below.
Placement Audition Times
Tuesday,
January 12 - 7:30 pm
Thursday, January
14
- 7:30 pm
NOTE: If you are NOT able
to attend one of the three designated audition placement times or are joining
classes later in the semester another time should be arranged with Sarah Butts,
Associate Artistic Director,
via phone at 591-9535 or by
e-mail.
What to expect or prepare for the placement audition:
There will not be any “cuts”
made in this process. Everyone who is interested in taking an acting class will
be placed in one of the three classes.
- All
students will go through various group acting exercises
- All
students will be taken through a brief interview process. For this be prepared
to speak about what theater means to you and also about who you are as a person
and an actor.
- If you
are ONLY interested in the Beginning level class you do NOT need to prepare
anything in advance. Just come with a positive “yes” attitude and a willingness
to try new things!
- All
Students interested in being considered for the Intermediate or Advanced class
need to prepare the following to be presented at audition:
- A
one-minute, or less contemporary monologue (see
definition below).
- A theatre
resume.
What is a Contemporary Monologue? A
monologue is a part in a play where one single actor is speaking alone.
A contemporary monologue should be from a play or source that is modern.
How do I find a monologue?
A monologue can be found
from a play. There are also MANY monologue books that can be purchased
at local bookstores or can be ordered online. There are also various
websites that offer free monologues. Here are a couple example sites:
Monologuearchive.com
The Monologue Database by These Aren't My Shoes Productions
Monologues for women by Arthur Jolly
Monologues for men by Arthur Jolly
Bridge to the Future, Inc.
