Heralded as “one of the most eclectic and electric night
of theatre in Billings” – the Venture Theatre’s 15th annual
Page-To-Stage One Act Play Festival is not until January. But submissions
from aspiring playwrights are being accepted now. Under the direction of
Venture Theatre’s Producing Artistic Director, Robert Brian Wood, this is a
staple of Venture’s season of entertainment…and a true adventure for
writers, directors, actors and the audience.
The Page-To-Stage One Act Festival is Venture Theatre's
signature play development program in which audiences can actually
experience the creation of a play. Throughout the rehearsal and run of the
show, the playwright and director make constant changes in response to
reactions and feedback from the audience. The One Act Festival is sponsored
by The Billings Outpost.
Submission Guidelines

Submissions for the 2010 Festival will be accepted from
Montana, Wyoming and
Idaho
only.

Submissions deadline is November 1, 2009.

Only ONE submission will be accepted from each playwright.

All submissions must be previously unproduced works other
than public readings.

All submissions must be 20 minutes or under.

Submission fee is $10. (Please include with initial
submission in check or money order form made out to Venture
Theatre.)

This play festival is a “workshop festival.”
Playwrights must be open to potential rewrites and
remain flexible to working with the production team.

We prefer work that focuses on plot, action and
relationship.

All plays will be produced as a single evening performance.
With this in mind, submissions must be economical in
their use of stage and set requirements.

workshops: January 6 – 7:30pm, January 7 – 7:30pm, January 8 – 8pm, January 9 – 8pm, January
13 – 7:30pm, January 14 – 7:30pm and January 15 – 8pm
Full production
of all selected pieces: Saturday, January 16 – 8pm, Thursday, January 21
– 7:30pm, Friday, January 22 – 8pm, and Saturday, January 23 – 8pm
